Info about the Groups

The Jungian shamanic groups are very challenging to new members. Shamanism is holistic and therefore affects every aspect of one's life. Americans approach spirituality often as a separate box separated from the rest of life. People in America are used to religion and spirituality being something you do for several hours on Sunday or Saturday rather than being a whole way of life, action, philosophy, perception and culture. It takes a great deal of time and exposure to integrate into one's self, this holistic experience of shamanism. It cannot be done in an intellectual and academic fashion. Shamanism must be experienced through numerous experiences and encounters of a different nature with this world, and other worlds. We recommend that someone entering one of these circles be very patient with themselves, and the process, and the circle. It is best to enter into this experience with the concept that you are going to a foreign land, planning to stay for an extensive time in order to learn and experience a new language, a new culture, and a totally new way of being in the world.

In a holistic way, to really know French, one needs to go to France, experience the language, the culture and the people, and their philosophies of life. This is not done in a short time. We ask that new members take this important journey with courage and trust. You will receive a great deal more than you can imagine by risking this deep exploration, rather than the more common American, "McDonald's Spirituality" which promises enlightenment in a weekend seminar. It is a particularly common syndrome in San Francisco Bay Area smorgasbord of New Age spiritual processes, for seekers to spend one weekend seminar on Hinduism, a second on Buddhism, and a third on Shamanism, and believe that they are suddenly masters as a result.

These groups are for seekers who wish to explore shamanism in a deep and life-changing way. It is not necessary that you have taken many courses on shamanism, or read many books. We follow a path of experience as the teacher, rather than merely the intellect. We seek people who are open and hungry for experience. It is the power of a circle of dedicated seekers which opens the doorways to teachers from many worlds that provides the power of our circles rather than a guru. We seek others who are willing to join hands and hearts and thoughts in creating sacred space.
